Special Ability: Pure white Clydesdale Stallion. Though a very docile creature in nature, once his wrath is aroused, Logan finds it very hard to maintain his human form. Being strong and agile while changed, he has destroyed several properties during moments of rage. Few and far between, each loss of control is often triggered by some violent event. In a way, Logan has yet to truly conquer his beast.

Logan is good-looking, even if he doesn't think it. Tall, muscular and broad-shouldered, he has the choice physique of most of the school. He is a very active person who eats well, and it shows. Years of playing Blitzball and training in several types of martial arts with his father has honed his body into a lean, toned machine. To many who don't know him, he appears like a typical jock, and has often been sneered at because of his so-called 'pretty-boy' features.

His dress sense does nothing to help his case, often wearing preppy, neat clothes that appear to be expensive, even if they're not. Shirts and ties are a staple in his closet, as are black jeans. Being very fond of colour and vibrancy, his favourite combination is blue, black and white – understated yet undeniably classy. It is extremely odd for him to be caught out looking scruffy or unkempt. Even though he doesn't spend hours on his appearance, it just seems to fall into place with him. He always tries to look his best, believing that presentation is always important, no matter what day it is. Despite his undeniably good musculature and form, Logan does not like to be caught out shirtless or showing off, and its a rare hot day that he even considers removing his ironed shirt or straight-cut jeans.

Weird Quirks: When he's feeling uncomfortable or nervous, Logan has a tendency to scratch at his jaw or neck. Sometimes, his right foot jerks a little as he walks, like a horse hoofing the ground when it feels the need to run. Being somewhat more attached to his mother, he prefers being called Luo Gan to James. In an attempt to pronounce his name, however, it somehow became Logan to most of his friends and even his sisters.
Secrets Logan finds himself most at home and comfortable with quiet, studious people. He enjoys comfortable silences away from masses of people, and doesn't mind the sound of his own company. Going to the gym and exercising and playing with the guys is all well and good, but he loves to sit by the fireplace or huddle under a blanket with a book and letting the words and imagery take him to a different place altogether. Logan is a very secretive boy, and likes to keep his own life under wraps although he is more than willing to listen to others about theirs.

Ever since he was a little boy, Logan has always had an affinity with animals. It may be due to his open, kind-hearted ways, his caring nature, or even his therian roots, but all sorts of animals seem to be drawn to him. He was the boy all the dogs went to first, the one that the cats would curl up and rub against. Animals just love him, and he them. The pet of his hand is able to calm even the most enraged bulldog, and the flightiest of birds are willing to perch on his wrist or shoulder. Logan is also a fast and astute learner, able to pick up activities without having much practice. Often applying to his ability with sports, a day of training enables him to understand the mechanics and finesse of an activity that may take others weeks or months to get. Observing and mimicking the action of others seems to give him more than just muscle memory, and he is fairly proficient at many sports and martial arts because of this. His quick mind has helped him many a time out of a bad situation, and he is almost constantly aware of his surroundings unless he is deep in thought or feeling particularly emotional.

Snooping around after dark, unintentionally eaves-dropping on other people's conversations and just being where he isn't wanted, Logan is plagued by a constant sense of curiosity. It is part of his character, as he worries about others, he grows increasingly curious about why they are the way they are. Sometimes, unable to contain his curiosity, Logan may burst out with an inappropriate comment towards their situation, inadvertently getting into a lot of trouble. He has stumbled across very dangerous situations due to his curiosity, and has paid the price. Unfortunately, in the case of this particular trait, he has yet to learn his lesson, his quick-witted responses and humble demeanor allowing him escape from many a bad fight. Naivete is another issue of Logan's, and he is always to believe the best in people. Because he is so open and honest, he believes that everyone else is the same as well. Innocent until definitely proven guilty, no one is out to harm another – at least, that is what he thinks. Even if he has been hurt or harmed by someone else, it is never their fault, but caused by the situation or the environment. Logan has been known to speak to some dangerous, seedy characters in an attempt to help them, and has been very lucky to escape with his life so far. A soft-hearted boy, he will let others get away with doing almost anything that can be done to hurt him. When asked, Logan will do anything a friend or acquaintance wants him to do, unless it is against his moral values. He wants to do right by others, and help out as many as he can. Wanting to make a difference in the world, he has often been bullied into doing things for others, hoping that by doing so, he can change them someday.

Though he is outgoing and friendly to most, there is a somewhat silent and contemplative side to his character. His mood swings are small, subtle changes in his character that can erupt into an explosive temper if left unchecked. Logan has tried for years to stabilize his blind anger, and has succeeded to a large extent, unless someone challenges the safety of his sisters, or the closest of his friends. Very much the protective, stable force of his animal, Logan will do what it takes to keep the peace and stay alive.

When Rufios and Shu Ling first met, high in the Tibetan mountains, it seemed like a fated meeting. He was lost - a starving British mercenary who had come in search of a wild beast that he had been paid to hunt, and she the misunderstood Therian who had lost her family to sickness and starvation caused by the corrupted, money-grubbing, pitiless villages of the valley. They had hunted her down, and paid young mercenaries like Rufios to clear out the remainder of the Therians so that they could build up and 'modernize' like the rest of the world. Rufios had nursed her back to health instead, taking her to his home in England. Over the years they learned to communicate, each picking up on the other's body language more so than the words that they spoke. They decided that they would grow old together and raise a family, one that would be strong and protect themselves, by killing if necessary.

When James Luo Gan Valentine was brought into this world, both Rufios and Shu Ling were sorely disappointed. He did not seem interested in hunting or killing, choosing to spend time in the library rather than out hunting with his parents. Indeed, when he first shifted into his form, Rufios was furious. He would have no tree-hugging, mundie-loving boy as a son, not after they had killed his wife's family, and might come after them next. He did all he could, giving James lessons in fighting, in hunting. He taught his son how to track, and the most effective ways to dispatch an opponent. Though James showed promise, skill and good instinct, none of it really attracted him.

When Raquel and Jessica were born, two twin sisters, the Valentines could not be more pleased. They were all rough and tumble, chewing on Rufios' boot thong and pouncing on Shu Ling only a weeks after their birth. They would be the successors of his skill and knowledge, as well as their mother's tenacity. The twins' birth also brought about an unexpected result... James grew very protective of his young sisters, and took care of them when their parents weren't around. Shu Ling just wasn't a good human mother. She took care of her young the way her tribe did in the past, like wolves. When Jessica received a bad grade in school, or when Raquel was bullied by a mundie at school, James would be their caretaker, their listener, their best friend. Often, it was James who made sure they were safe, and kept their nature secret from everyone else. It was by his suggestion that they move to Germany. There were better places to hide and more of their kind who lived openly in the forests and valleys, offering better protection and more space for his aging parents to run and hunt.

In the end, James took his life into his own hands, signing himself up to join the Idris Academy as soon as he could. Despite his parents' backward ways, he knew that his sisters needed to learn how to survive in the city as well as the forest. He worked and slaved to get a scholarship into the school, then found a job so that he could earn enough for his sisters to go to the academy as well. He took to calling himself Luo Gan or Logan to separate him from his past, to remind himself that he would be stronger, better for his sisters' futures. Bright and able-bodied, he has worked hard to get where he is today, and is infinitely glad that his sisters are coming to the academy soon with him.
